Landlords
More than half of tenants (58%) give their spare keys to family, friends and neighbours. A staggering 7% of these admit that they don't bother to retrieve them when they move out of a rental property. Many more keep this fact to themselves. This means that at least 37,500 rental properties change hands every year where at least one set of keys is with an unknown third party. At what cost?

You owe it to yourself and your next tenants to make sure this doesn't happen!

Moving Home?
24/7 Locks & Security along with Police Crime Prevention and many Insurance companies strongly recommend the first thing you should do when moving into a new home is have the locks changed. Burglary where no forced entry is made is increasing.
Don't become another crime statistic!
Your property is one of your biggest assets, so make sure it's secure. If you are out a lot, especially if you have a 'For Sale' board outside, ask your estate agent to be careful about the details they give out. Have the board removed as soon as your property is sold. If you need to give your keys to other people before, during or after your move, make sure you can trust them. Ask them not to label the keys with your surname or address.

Common Sense Security
Most burglaries are carried out by opportunist thieves and twenty percent don't even require the use of any force, 2 in 10 burglaries are carried out using an open window or door. Common sense security is the first step in securing your home, a building presenting itself as unoccupied and insecure is more at risk than one which is properly secured.
- Lock all doors and windows when you go out.
- Don't leave keys in obvious or visible places such as under the door mat or above the door; burglars know all the hiding places.
- Prevent letterbox burglaries by storing keys away from the door.
- Keep sheds, outbuildings and garages locked and don't leave ladders lying around; burglars will use your tools to break into your house.
- Don't leave curtains and blinds drawn during the day.
- Consider installing outside security lights.
- Make sure your home insurance is up-to-date.
- Think about installing extra door locks, door reinforcement, additional security or key operated window locks.
